The
main objective of our investigation was to prepare a SiO2 -Na2O-CaO-Al2O3 system with a composition similar to
the non-volatile fraction of some real wastes. The influence of 10% PbO addition
on the physico-chemical properties of the above quaternary was subsequently
studied. The obtained glass-ceramics were then characterized in terms of their composition dependence of these
properties. Leaching tests and DTA measurements were carried out in order to
establish the extent PbO additions improve the glass physico-chemical
properties. Electrical conductivity measurements on glass melts indicated the
changes produced on the structure of the matrix as this oxide was added. MAS
NMR indicate the changes of structure with the composition. The environmental
contribution (after leaching) on the system can be observed from the Na23 and Al27
bands
Changes
of the structure with increasing the temperature from room temperature to the
melting point were shown by IR (reflexivity and transmisivity) spectra.
Corroboration of these data could bring new information about the structure of the glasses obtained and give indication about the processing parameters.
